Τα κτήρια αυτά ονομάζονται συνήθως carrier hotels κ.α. και η χρήση τους είναι να προσφέρουν τις απαραίτητες υποδομές για την αποθήκευση δεδομένων (servers κτλ.) Το κτήριο αυτό αποτελεί ένα τόπο όπου κάτι πραγματικό πηγάζει από κάτι άλλο εξωπραγματικό.
